Oscar Health has rolled out its new Lucy Healthcare Marketplace, an AI-powered digital hub built for carriers, brokers, and consumers. The company positions the platform as a central piece of its move toward individual coverage options, including support for ICHRA-based benefit designs that let employers fund workers' individual plans instead of buying group policies.
Chief executive Mario Schlosser made clear where he thinks the market is heading. He said the traditional employer-sponsored health insurance structure is ending and pointed to alternative coverage models as the replacement. That is a notable claim from the head of a publicly traded insurer, and it frames the Lucy launch as more than a product update.
The marketplace aims to connect multiple parties in one place. Carriers get a channel to reach buyers. Brokers get tools to manage clients moving between group and individual plans. Consumers get a way to compare and enroll in coverage that follows them between jobs.
Oscar Health's bet is that the shift Schlosser describes is already underway. If he is right, the company wants its infrastructure sitting at the center of it rather than relying on a shrinking employer group business. The Lucy Healthcare Marketplace is now the public face of that strategy.
