The health system has signed an agreement to purchase Summit Pharmacy at 140 Northstar Drive, with the transaction expected to be finalized in December. The deal marks a step in the organization's effort to expand access to prescription services for patients in the Holts Summit area and surrounding communities.
Officials described the purchase as part of a broader strategy to connect pharmacy operations more closely with primary and specialty care. By bringing the location under its own management, the health system aims to streamline prescription filling, improve coordination between pharmacists and physicians, and offer patients a more consistent experience across its network of care sites.
The pharmacy will continue serving customers throughout the transition, and current staff are expected to remain in place, according to the terms outlined by both parties. Patients will not need to transfer prescriptions or take any immediate action, and existing insurance arrangements will remain unchanged once the sale closes.
Leadership said the acquisition reflects growing demand for convenient pharmacy services in the region and a desire to keep care close to home for residents who currently travel outside the area for certain prescriptions. Additional details about future services at the site, including potential expanded hours, will be shared after the transaction is complete.
