SGMC Health has honored two dedicated nurses from its Women and Children unit, Kendra Butenschon and Amber Chadwick, as the latest Health System Heroes. Both women serve as educators within the health system, and their recognition highlights their commitment to patient care and staff development.
Butenschon, a registered nurse, and Chadwick, also an RN, were selected for the award based on their exceptional work in training and supporting colleagues. Hospital leadership noted that their efforts go beyond routine duties, often stepping in to mentor new nurses and ensure high standards in maternal and pediatric care. The Health System Heroes program aims to spotlight employees who demonstrate outstanding compassion and professionalism.
In a statement, SGMC officials praised the pair for their leadership during challenging times, particularly in a department that requires both technical skill and emotional sensitivity. Butenschon and Chadwick were described as role models who foster a positive environment for both patients and staff. The recognition comes as the health system continues to emphasize the importance of frontline workers in delivering quality care.
