The Oakland County Health Division has issued a public health alert regarding potential exposure to measles at a clinic in Rochester Hills. This warning comes after it was determined that an individual from a neighboring county, who has since been diagnosed with measles, visited the clinic during a time when they may have been contagious.
Health officials are urging anyone who may have been at the clinic during the exposure period to monitor for symptoms of measles, which can include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a distinctive rash. Symptoms typically appear 7 to 14 days after exposure, making it crucial for individuals to remain vigilant.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that can spread easily through respiratory droplets. The health division is emphasizing the importance of vaccination as the most effective way to prevent measles infection. Individuals who are unsure of their vaccination status or who have not received the measles vaccine are encouraged to consult with their healthcare providers.
The health division continues to investigate the situation and is working to ensure the safety of the community.
